You are invited to join the Walter E. Long Master Plan project team for an in-depth discussion on future improvements for the Walter E. Long Metropolitan Park. This small group meeting specifically designed to hear from neighborhood associations.
During the hour-long meeting, the project team will make a very brief presentation about the master plan and then ask you to respond to a series of questions about:
· How you and/or your group uses the park today
· How you would like to use the park in the future
· Improvements or changes you would like to see included in the Master Plan
· Your concerns and questions are about the Master Plan
Here are the details on the small group discussion:
Walter E. Long Metropolitan Park Master Plan
Neighborhood Associations Stakeholder Meeting
Tuesday, March 20, 2018
6:15 pm until 7:15 pm.
9608 Decker Lake Road
We will meet in the single-family house on the park property. The entrance is across from Imperial Drive. Refreshments will be provided
The purpose of the Master Plan is to develop long-term, achievable goals for the entire myriad of uses for the 3,695-acre park – including areas within the park that are currently being operated by other organizations. Our team’s work on the Master Plan began in January of this year and is expected to be completed by October 2018.
Walter E. Long Park is an expansive property of wide open spaces that are ideal for recreational activities such as picnicking; camping; fishing; swimming; volleyball; and other passive, active, environmental, and cultural uses. The park has also been a staple in the Austin community for more than fifty years.
You and/or your organization has been identified as a key stakeholder with valuable input about the park today and its future.
To RSVP, please contact us at WalterLongMasterPlan@makingthingsclear.com or call 512-895-9592 by March 14th. We look forward to seeing you on March 20!
